  • Great training shoe

    Great training shoe

I’ve been training in the Nike Metcon Free 7 for several weeks now, and they’ve quickly become my go-to gym shoe. The elevated heel provides excellent support and stability during squats, helping me feel more planted and confident under heavier loads. Whether I’m lifting, doing functional fitness workouts, or moving through accessory work, they’ve performed exactly as I hoped. Comfort is another strong point. For a training-focused shoe, they’re surprisingly comfortable for everyday wear and short walks. I wouldn’t choose them for long-distance walking or an all-day sightseeing trip, but for running errands before or after the gym, they’re more than capable. The cushioning strikes a nice balance between comfort and stability without feeling overly soft. From a styling standpoint, Nike did a solid job. The design is modern and athletic, though they do run a little on the bulky side compared to some lifestyle sneakers. That said, they look like they’re built for training, which is exactly what they are. If you’re looking for a shoe that clearly belongs in the gym and performs well there, the Metcon Free 7 checks the box. Overall, I’m extremely happy with the purchase. The combination of stability, comfort, and gym-focused performance has impressed me enough that I’ll be switching to these as my primary training shoe going forward. For anyone looking for a dependable lifting and training sneaker with good everyday versatility, the Metcon Free 7 is an easy recommendation.

  • The new Metcon!!

    Tony

This is my first time trying out gym dedicated shoes that are actually designed with stability in mind. I was pleasantly surprised how different it feels compared to what I am used to wearing when going to the gym. What I am used to wearing is my running shoes or my air max. The fit is true to size in both width and length, although the width is a little tight but also not uncomfortable. Maybe it is my imagination but it feels like this shoe helps with my over pronation as when I walk or lift heavier weight, I don’t feel or see my right foot/ankle folding inwards. I am not too familiar with the metcon series as I’ve mainly bought them in the past for my sister and she always loved them but now I understand her. After wearing this shoe and now looking back with my other higher cushioned running shoes, those were having me all wobbly sometimes when trying to lift heavier weights. I did some CrossFit exercises along with HIIT and it was very comfortable! The stair master was a lot easier to do too. I didn’t think it would have cushion but it does, the foam in the heel is soft but too soft. I also did sled pushes and it was a lot easier to do. I read that you can do some short distance running or sprints but I feel that the forefoot cushion is lacking or has none at all so I have not tried doing those yet but for sure If I did, I’d be able to turn corners with more confidence knowing I won’t be rolling my ankle. For the design the very first part that caught my attention was the upper, it looks exactly like the Jordan 11!!! It looks so sick!! Also the fabric makes it very breathable so bonus points. I am glad this model is my first experience with the metcon series. The midsole looks smooth too and the outsole has a cool traction design. I’m not sure what it is called on the side of the shoe that has the swoosh but I like that little detail too. I love the mini swoosh on the toebox and I like that it is becoming more common with the newer models. Not really much I would change as I don’t have personal experience with this series but if if there is talks of doing short runs with this shoe, there should be more forefoot cushioning to handle that but it would be best to leave that for the running division. This one I use mainly for lifting and some casual walking

  • Good everything shoe!

    Mike

When I got these in the mail I was skeptical, but they really work for a lot of activities. I am a janitor and a coach so I move around a lot. Typically my legs get sore at the end of the day, but these shoes proved different. They felt good when I was wearing them during my coaching and janitor duties. When working out in them they felt great, good stability and traction. I played some basketball in them, not the best traction but I didn’t roll my ankles. I ran with the team I coached in these shoes and they preformed well. No issues with support or traction during my training sessions. Also as a janitor while mopping floors the tread was very good because on wet surfaces I still have decent traction, although I am still careful about walking on wet surfaces. The fabric drys out quick, I have spilled water on them multiple times from mopping and they stay relatively dry and stink free. Definitely a great shoe for multi purpose users.
