We know how difficult it can be to let go of the shoes that have been such constant companions to you on the run, pitch, or court. But just because you've reached the end of the road with your shoes, it doesn't have to mean they can't be of use to someone else. That's where our Recycling + Donation program can help.
If you return your Nike or Converse used shoes to us, we'll give them new life by either recycling them or donating them as part of our Move to Zero journey toward zero carbon and zero waste. Just drop off used athletic shoes at a Nike store, and depending on their condition, we'll either recycle them or send them to one of our non-profit partners for re-use. Select Nike stores also accept apparel.
Together, we can help keep landfills from racking up scores.
And remember, when you're ready to recycle or donate your gear, we'll have our latest innovations ready for you.
Most Nike stores accept used athletic shoes, but we don’t accept sandals, dress shoes, boots, shoes containing metal (like cleats or track spikes). Before heading to a nearby store, check if they accept shoes for recycling.
Select Nike stores will accept athletic tops and bottoms but won’t accept socks, underwear, or clothes with metal fittings like snaps, zippers, or buttons.
Most Nike stores will accept used footwear for recycling, but be sure to contact them to confirm. You can also consult our list of stores participating in the Recycling + Donation program.
When you arrive, let a store athlete know you have used shoes or apparel to donate. They’ll direct you to our recycle and donation bin or take your used items and ship them to our logistics center for inspection if there is no bin in the store.
When your donations arrive at our logistic center, they’re hand inspected by our experts to determine if used shoes can be donated or recycled into Nike Grind and other new materials. If our experts determine that an item can be donated, we’ll sent it to organizations that help people facing challenging situations or disasters.
