The Vaporfly 4 is a lean, mean, mile-eating machine. We trimmed weight in the midsole, outsole and upper from the Vaporfly 3 without sacrificing performance. The result is a lighter, more propulsive all-around racing shoe that’s trusted from the mile to the marathon.
A full-length carbon fiber Flyplate provides a propulsive, racing feel.
Nike ZoomX foam, our most responsive foam, just got faster. Running from heel to toe, it unlocks even more energy return than before thanks to a slight midsole reduction, giving you a bouncy feel.
Engineered mesh offers improved comfort and a disappearing feel on your foot. It helps reduce the weight of the shoe while supplying a more consistent fit.
See how the midsole bulges out by the heel? We designed it that way to help reduce weight on the inside of the foot to give you a more stable ride.

I love these shoes so much, and I hate the fact that they start falling apart after about a week of running. The bottom soul starts to unglue. I’ve started realizing that Nike has had a problem with their soul and cushioning starting to squeak or unglue from the shoe and I wish they went back to their other adhesive

Heel ripped after one mile

After seeing the heel on mine get destroyed and ripped after only 1 mile of running I feel like the quality of these shoes has decreased since they first introduced them. I might give them another shot just because I enjoyed previous iterations but I really don’t want to go through the return / refund process again. I expect better from Nike.

We reduced the weight of the outsole by using a thinner rubber compared to the Vaporfly 3.
