Increased foam stacks give responsive cushioning for comfort and bounce.

Kick your stride into another gear in the Downshifter 14. We increased the amount of cushioning in the midsole for more comfort and responsiveness than the previous iteration. Plus, the upper is made with an open-hole mesh for optimal breathability and a midfoot band gives you a locked-in feel mile after mile.

Open-Hole Mesh

Engineered open-hole mesh on the upper offers breathability.

  • Not good for high arches.

    nocste

I've had the Downshifter 12 and 13. They were both good. Downshifter 14 has a gusseted tongue that makes the shoe too tight for people like me with high arches. It's too tight. Why did Nike do this? Downshifter 13 didn't have this feature and I never had a problem with the tongue. Don't fix things if they're not broke. I'm sure the shoes will be fine for those with 'normal' arches.

  • Lacks forefoot cushioning, tight midfoot

I bought these to replace my old Revolution 6 (13 wide) as my walking/daily wear shoes. The high stack foam under the heel feels great, it feels better than the Revolution at cushioning impact for heel strikers. However the forefoot cushioning is lacking and it feels tight around my midfoot, even though I bought size 13/2E wide. Extra wide foot customers may want to opt for the Revolution instead. Also it’s a minor inconvenience but the laces are a bit short.

Enhanced breathability and a soft foam midsole cushion each step.
