Club Atlético Boca Juniors
2017/18 Boca Juniors Stadium Home Kit
The club’s original blue and gold colors were chosen by pure chance. During a match, the two clubs’ kits were so similar they made a bet: winner keeps their colors, loser changes them. Boca lost and had to adopt the colors of the next ship’s flag that sailed into port. That flag was Swedish, giving the club its blue and gold colors, as well as its bold stripe.
Since 1970 stars were added to the traditional crest, one per title won—domestic championships above the letters, international ones below. At this rate, they’re going to need a bigger crest.
Boca Juniors were founded in 1905 by a group of Italians from Genoa, giving the team and its fans their nickname - Xeneizes ("Genoese"). The team was rose to the Primera División in 1913. In 1925 the club had its first chance to prove its talents overseas, traveling to Spain, Germany, and France. They seized the opportunity, winning 15 out of 19 matches. The club went on to take 32 division championships, 12 domestic cups and holds the 4th most internationally recognized titles in the world with 22. The club’s fans are known as Los Xeneizes (“The Genoese”) after the Italian founders of the team.
