Medium is too long if you are on the shorter size

I have these in the plum colour, I originally tried on a medium but they were mega long (I’m 5ft4) like dragging on the floor long, so I tried on a small and they fit a lot better on the leg and were just about right. Luckily they fit me. I don’t understand why they get so much longer when you go up a size.

Extremely comfortable and good quality. I’m definitely getting more colors :) it is high waist. I’m 5’9 and got M. Fitted perfectly.
