Nike Pegasus Plus 2

If you started wearing Nike as a kid in the 80’s because you had skinny/narrow feet, this may finally be where you have to jump ship. In their efforts to make the forefoot fit a wider range of feet to gain new customers, they’ve pretty much ruined it for their long-time devotees. Went with the same size I wear for literally hundreds of my other Nikes, and these things are sloppy. They can’t be cranked tight enough. I was so excited for these, and now I’m not only disappointed, I have to assume that none of their running shoes are going to fit well anymore.

The Nike Pegasus Plus 2 delivers what I hoped for and expected: a comfortable daily trainer with a bit more propulsion. It feels like a hybrid of the traditional Pegasus and the Tempo Next%, keeping the familiar Pegasus ride while adding extra energy return from the forefoot Zoom Air. That air pod makes the shoe stiffer than a standard Pegasus but does not have the feel of a plated midsole. The substantial upper and robust cushioning also make it quite different from earlier Pegasus Plus/Turbo models which mated minimal uppers to a lower stack heights: 27mm heel, 17mm forefoot in Turbo, 35mm heel, 25mm forefoot in Plus 1, versus the 39mm heel and 29mm forefoot in the Pegasus Plus 2. I will use it for basic distance miles and some tempo efforts but will definitely reach for something else for interval work. My only complaint is the noticeable squeak from the forefoot air pods, even if it is quieter than the Alphafly or Tempo Next%, which use similar pods.

Incredible!! This is finally an ALL day everyday shoe for real! PLEASE, you need to add this same zoom air cushioning to the forefoot of your Tennis line!!! I can’t wait for more colors.
