Flexible Outsole

Nike Free technology combines stable foam in the heel with a softer, more flexible foam in the forefoot. It works with flex grooves on the outsole to deliver the flexibility dynamic workouts demand.

Lightweight mesh up top helps keep the shoe breathable and comfortable, no matter how much your workouts heat up.

  • Great shoe for hybrid training

    PinkMoneyBag

The Nike Free Metcon 7 is a great option if you need a dedicated gym shoe. Not only were the shoes very comfortable they were also great for lifting. These shoes are great if you are a hybrid athlete. I found that they had just the right amount of cushion for cardio for long sessions of incline treadmill or stair master but were also stable enough to do heavy deadlifts and squats. I was able to use them for heavy sled push/pulls with no issue. The fabric seems to be pretty durable yet also breathable. The material on the toe scratches easily but will buff out nicely with a good wipe down after your gym sesh. The shoes overall design and comfortability is also great if you need to throw on something quick outside the gym. I found myself reaching for these shoes over my other shoes for quick trips to the store since they were quick to slip on with the heel strap. The only thing I would reconsider with this shoe is to go a half size up from you regularly wear. They were a bit uncomfortable and too small out of the box but re-lacing the shoes just right seemed to help.

  • Solid Trainers

    Troy

Admittedly when I first got the Free Metcon 7s I was a bit skeptical, but after having tried them as part of my usual routine they turned out to be a very dependable pair for working out. They were very supportive, especially for leg routines and squats especially. I'm a huge fan of the slightly raised arched footbed to just give a little extra support. They're not the most comfortable but they're designed for stability primarily, and they did flex a good amount underfoot when I needed them to. The upper is decently breathable too, while I also really like knitted uppers these were a solid offering to keep things decently cool even in a hot gym. Lockdown isn't the best but it definitely gets me through my reps with no hassle, especially with how stellar the traction is on these. Overall a pretty solid pair with no special frills, just good performance.

  • Great training shoe

    Great training shoe

I’ve been training in the Nike Metcon Free 7 for several weeks now, and they’ve quickly become my go-to gym shoe. The elevated heel provides excellent support and stability during squats, helping me feel more planted and confident under heavier loads. Whether I’m lifting, doing functional fitness workouts, or moving through accessory work, they’ve performed exactly as I hoped. Comfort is another strong point. For a training-focused shoe, they’re surprisingly comfortable for everyday wear and short walks. I wouldn’t choose them for long-distance walking or an all-day sightseeing trip, but for running errands before or after the gym, they’re more than capable. The cushioning strikes a nice balance between comfort and stability without feeling overly soft. From a styling standpoint, Nike did a solid job. The design is modern and athletic, though they do run a little on the bulky side compared to some lifestyle sneakers. That said, they look like they’re built for training, which is exactly what they are. If you’re looking for a shoe that clearly belongs in the gym and performs well there, the Metcon Free 7 checks the box. Overall, I’m extremely happy with the purchase. The combination of stability, comfort, and gym-focused performance has impressed me enough that I’ll be switching to these as my primary training shoe going forward. For anyone looking for a dependable lifting and training sneaker with good everyday versatility, the Metcon Free 7 is an easy recommendation.
