The weather is finally cooling down here in the southeastern US so I finally got to try these pants on this morning. It was misting early in the morning so I got to try out how water repellent they are and I have to say fairly water repellent! My legs and underwear stayed dry the whole time! They're made out of a fully synthetic nylon material corduroy that looks like it would be super warm, but they don't seem to retain that much heat somehow. It was nice when I was running around on the field with my son this afternoon during his t-ball game. However that also means I wouldn't wear them thinking they'd keep me warm during the winter. I guess I'm saying I think these will be great for hiking in the fall or spring. As the listing says, they're a loose fit so expect wide leg openings. The waistband is elasticized but also comes with a belt for a secure fit.
You can't really see it too well from the online product photos, but the corduroy material is one-sided. They come with the cuff turned up as a style choice I guess (I don't think I'd want to collect leaves and debris in the upturned cuff during a hike).? When you look inside the pants past the upturned cuff you see a nylon type backing material. So if you were expecting a plush corduroy lining, this doesn't have that, it's more breathable and performance designed fabric. Hoping to wear this one more later this fall!
Overall, I like the look. The materials feel decent for hiking pants. With the black color, you could wear this with most things. I'm not sure I would wear this for casual wear given the performance nylon material (I prefer natural fibers). But I do appreciate that they used recycled materials. I just wish they would publish what percentage of the product is made of recycled materials.
