Nice quality but cut for a long torso—not mine

Not really my preference. They are cut very high waisted, and it’s too long for my torso, so the crotch hangs down low and awkward. Not a good look. Just not cut for my body. If you have a longer torso, the material is good quality and you may enjoy it.
Close but not quite right

The previous style of this shorts 5/5 stars for me, but when they shortened the inseam they also got rid of the silicone grip that kept the shorts in place. So, shorter inseam+no grip means that it rolls up with every squat and increased hip flexion. They had an excellent shortd previously with the 5" inseam and grip it stayed in place no matter my activity. Now I am constantly tugging it down during hiking and workouts. I will buy some iron on grips to see if they help but otherwise I will wait to buy more in hopes they update the shorts again and bring back what worked. Bummer. Their previous style is my favorite activity shorts. Other changes to the shorts were minor (for those who had the previous style and needed to replace a pair like I did) with similar tension and pockets. They did change the side pockets to mesh that when coupled with the shorter inseam means that large objects may slip out during activity, so I put my phone in the zipper pocket now. The direction of the towel/shirt holds are vertical now, as well, but really didn't change the function of the shorts for me.
