The NBA has seen plenty of multi-generational families, but the idea of a father sharing the court with his son always appeared unlikely, if not impossible. But with LeBron, improbable is light work. In the 2024 NBA Draft, LeBron James Jr.—better known as Bronny—was selected 55th overall by the Los Angeles Lakers. In the season opener on October 22, 2024, the Jameses checked in during the second quarter, becoming the first father and son duo to play together in an NBA game. Asymmetrical colorways dial up the theme as well, with a black and gold shoe with a heel icon that reads “Chosen 1” representing LeBron. On the flip side, a black and purple shoe places an emphasis on Bronny, with a heel icon punctuating being the “1 Who Chose.”
