I was looking for a good combat style boot for everyday wear. had to be waterproof, leather, and black. well these fit all the criteria. the Nike Field 2 boots were recommended to me by a friend serving in the Army, and once i put these on for the first time i had to call to thank him for the advice. i have had several pairs of combat boots but none this comfortable. they run true to my size in Converse and Jordans, and a half size smaller than my nike free running shoes. out of the box they are a little snug, but once the insulation and padding breaks in these should be perfect. the ankle has tons of flexibility where you want it and still offers great support. as for looks, these are great. they go well with a pair of jeans and don't look overly "tacti-cool". there are no obnoxious extras or protrusions, no special "high speed low drag" features that make you look like a mall ninja or airsoft LARPer. The design is clean and well thought out to provide, comfort, traction, and performance exactly where you need it. i liked these so much i plan on buying a second pair as backups in case these ever get discontinued.
This is more boot than sneaker.

I'd recommend this boot to anyone traversing urban areas with varying terrain under a multitude of weather conditions. These are light and breathable enough to help you endure desert summer days that turn into frigid evenings. The sole allows for grip in wet mud and sandy dirt as well as pavement and rubble. This GTX version seems to indeed prevent the foot from coming into contact with moisture. I would not want to test this boot in a body of water higher than the boot is without gaiters; nor would I want to keep these boots submerged for extended periods of time. But for unavoidable contact with puddles, streams, rain, etc., this boot will perform as intended. The feel of these on foot is most certainly closer to a rigid boot than Nike has previously released. That said, this boot does not remotely feel like a steel toe engineer boot or serious mountaineering footwear. Its appearance is also more "boot" if that's of importance. Overall it's a sound choice for urban environments. I'd recommend it. This model fits true to Nike sneaker size. I tried a half size up as well and that was too big.

just logged 3 miles on sidewalk and field terrain on a very stormy PNW day. Pros: my feet stayed dry, I walked in puddles up to 6inches deep, no leaks. The boots will break in quickly. Tacticool look. Good traction. No pinch points. Sole is firm. Cons: With good traction, comes lots of retained mud. No speed eyelets, the cut my laces short to try in a square knot. Metal eyelets would make it easier to re-lace. I like snug boots across the top of my foot, these eyelets make it a challenge to get a good snugness. Upper upper boot collar padding. When I wore jungle boots while active duty I preferred no padding at the calf collar. The boots are very tall. Sole is firm. I would not suggest to wear on concrete all day. No true insulation for cold weather. Overall I think they are a very good entry level boot. I can see myself using them to break brush to a good fishing hole. I decent upland boot to keep your feet dry on a wet morning.Write your review here. It must be at least 5 characters long.
