Ride up, so do not prevent chafing
I bought these to wear under my running shorts to ease chafing from my thighs rubbing together. They did not help with the chafing at all. I thought 5" would be long enough, except that they ride up my thighs when I am running and I have to constantly pull them down. I'm 5'9", about 165 lbs and would consider myself an "average" size. Good stretch

They do ride up with a lot of movement though. I’m typically a size medium and went with a large. I would recommend sizing up for the best fit!
