Wanted to love these shoes. They are a great color, have good support and add a squish to protect your joints from the harsh pavement. I think they prob are great marathon shoes for those reasons. For long distance runs these prob shine. I got them for a half marathon and started training in them running speed work (short distance 3 miles or less and quicker than my average pace). I find the Alpha is just too stiff and clunky. The stack height is great but I find when you land, you have to use a little more effort to push off again. They are ridiculously hard to get in and out of as well and they do not hold the heel down like some other Nike race shoes. My left heel kept rising out of the shoe, I laced them tighter but it just didn't work. For these reasons, I much prefer the Vaporflys and bought a 3rd pair of those for race day.

Why did Nike change the heel? It is terrible! The previous alphafly next percent were perfect! I bought this version and the shoe was much smaller and uncomfortable in the heel that I took it off immediately. I have loved very change in the Vapor/Alphyfly type models (minus the weird vinyl upper version early on - but still usable- but it changed back to knit so all was well). I like Alphafly so much better and hope they fix this for the next percent 3 :( I am buying all I can of the previous version online now and crossing my fingers about the 3rd version to come.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Weightless running shoes! I’m new to running and have been training for a marathon next year. These are one of my favorite sneakers I’ve been training in, I would definitely recommend going a half size up (at least that worked for me). But I definitely recommend!
