Before MJ stepped on the court in red and black, he was making championship-winning jump shots wearing blue and white. We're celebrating MJ's college days with a blue so crisp it might look better today than it did 40 years ago. But while the design of this AJ39 throws it back, these shoes are anything but old-school. Engineered for today's game, they come packed with court-ready tech to help you start building a legacy all your own.

All Play With No Crash
We added a crash pad at the instep to help hold your foot in place and keep your toes from slamming into the toe box. After all, just because MJ lost a few toenails doesn't mean you should have to.
Zoom Into Comfort
ZoomX foam, Nike's lightest high-efficiency foam, conforms to the natural shape of your foot to give you soft and springy cushioning without weighing you down. We paired it with a full-length Air Zoom unit for snappy energy return.
Rock Solid
Remember MJ's cross step? Of course you do. It influenced this shoe from the sole up. A built-in sidewall cupsole helps provide stability during lateral movements and allows for full engagement of the underfoot cushioning.

legacy of performance innovation in the Jordan Brand line
KennyGG - Jun 17, 2025
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Pros: 1. Lightweight Performance: The 39s are noticeably lighter than previous iterations, thanks to an updated woven upper that feels breathable yet supportive. It wraps the foot nicely without creating hotspots. 2. Responsive Cushioning: Jordan Brand brings back Zoom Air Strobel and a targeted forefoot unit, delivering excellent court feel and responsiveness. Whether you’re exploding off the dribble or going for a second jump on the glass, the cushioning holds up well. 3. Improved Traction: The multi-directional outsole pattern grips effectively on both clean and dusty courts. It’s reminiscent of the AJ34 and AJ36 in its bite and reliability—great for guards and agile forwards. 4. Sleek, Modern Design: The silhouette blends heritage and tech—some colorways channel retro vibes while others lean futuristic. They look just as good off the court as they feel on it. Cons: 1. Narrow Fit: Players with wider feet might find the fit a bit snug, especially around the midfoot. Sizing up or breaking them in gradually may be necessary. 2. Durability Concerns: The upper, while light, may not hold up as long for outdoor hoopers. Indoor players should be fine, but expect faster wear if used outside regularly.

Really comfortable. Don’t normally wear red but these shoes are fire. Glad I got them.
