What is the Mercurial Vapor 17 built for?
The Vapor 17 is built for light speed: rapid, multi‑directional quickness inspired by athletes who win with sharp cuts, agility, and constant movement. Weighing approximately 155 grams (Men’s size 9, FG), it is the lightest Mercurial to date, up to 20% lighter than the previous generation, designed to feel fast and responsive in every direction.
What's new on the Vapor 17 Elite?
The Vapor 17 is lighter than the previous iteration. Every gram of the shoe was considered as the team stripped back as much as possible while maintaining optimal performance in the build. The upper has been redesigned from GripKnit to AtomKnit, Nike’s lightest Flyknit ever. The FlyLite plate is incredibly thin yet strong, with advanced film carrier construction to keep weight as low as possible without sacrificing traction or responsiveness.
What's the difference between the Mercurial Vapor 17 and Superfly 11?
With its feathery Atomknit upper and FlyLite plate, the Vapor 17 Elite is lighter and tuned for quick cuts, sharp changes of direction and agility in tight spaces. The Superfly 11 Elite is built for explosive acceleration and fast sprints, pairing an Air Zoom plate, ZoomX foam and a FlyWeave Ultra upper for a spring-loaded feel at top speed.
What is Atomknit?
Atomknit is Nike's lightest, most transparent Flyknit construction to date. It wraps the foot with minimal material so the cleats practically disappear on your foot, bringing you closer to the ball.
How does the Mercurial Vapor 17 fit?
Like a second skin. The Atomknit upper conforms closely to the foot without restricting movement, giving you a low-profile, barefoot fit. Unlike the Superfly Academy and Club, the Vapor is a low-top with no ankle cuff to help you move freely.
What is the FlyLite plate?
The FlyLite plate is built with an advanced film carrier construction to help keep the cleat as light as possible. Anatomical traction is engineered into the plate to optimize acceleration and change of direction, so you can cut, go and go again.
Which price tier is right for me?
With premium innovations and materials, the Elite is for perfectionists. It features Atomknit and the full FlyLite plate with anatomical traction. The Pro is lighter than the Vapor 16 Pro, offering engineered two-layer Flyknit and a lightweight plate. The Academy is lighter than the Vapor 16 Academy, providing a NikeSkin upper engineered for touch and a lightweight plate system. The Club is for newcomers who just want to get on the field. It features a mesh and skin upper with a lightweight plate built for durability.
What surface options are available with this cleat?
The Vapor 17 Elite is available in Firm Ground (for dry, natural-grass fields), Soft Ground (for wet, muddy fields) and Artificial Grass (for longer, artificial surfaces). The Vapor 17 Pro is available in Hard Ground (for sparse grass, packed dirt and gravel fields), Firm Ground, Artificial Grass and Turf.
