You Can't Stop Wumi Agunbiade

Wumi Agunbiade is the role model that she never had. She's one of the few talented female basketball players who not only got scouted in Toronto, but went on to have a successful career in the game. After becoming a star player at Duquesne, she went on to go pro, before injuring her knee 3 years into her career. That led her to coaching basketball, and eventually brought her to where she is now. Today, Wumi is the founder of Hoopers Loop—an organisation that helps female athletes get to the top of their game, and just as importantly, discover their purpose.

On a daily basis, this means mentoring them, from helping them to improve on the court, to assisting them with navigating the realities of being female basketball players. And she built Hoopers Loop to last. When COVID-19 became a global pandemic, she didn't stop mentoring athletes. Instead, she simply pivoted, shifting her tactics to provide video calls, virtual workouts and inspiring digital talks, helping athletes stay motivated and inspired at a pivotal time.
