Rubbing on back of ankles

I sized up a half size and they seemingly fit fine. However, I went on a walk and the back of ankles were RAW afterwards. I’m not sure if I should have went up a full size or grabbed the wide. I had on socks (Nike tech). The full foot was fine after my walk so the support is good.
