Nike Mercurial Vapor 17 Elite

These are truly so light! Out of the box they didn't require any breaking in. It feels like there is nothing on your feet. But I have high arches and while I prefer a tight shoe these were very tight. I normally wear 2 socks while I play but I was only able to wear one with these. I feel like I should have sized up a half size. While I was playing they were comfortable but they were so light I almost felt like I wasn't wearing shoes. The feel of direct raw touch to the ball is going to take getting used to. I need a few more games to really get comfortable with these boots but the look and feel of them is worth it.

These Mercurial Vapor cleats came with a a really clean design and colors. I loved the low profile of the fabric over the mouth of the shoes. The green and black colors really pop with my favorite touch being the clear bottoms. The fit is exactly what I would expect from a Nike cleats, it is a narrower feel that some other brands. This is definitely something to keep in mind for the sizing. I don't ever use wide soles and they felt a little narrow for me. The contour to the top of the foot feels great and I make good contact on the ball when playing. My favorite feature is definitely the style. If I could change one thing it would be to have a wide sole version of this shoe since it checks every other box for me. I wouldn't knock it any stars for the size since that is what I expect on Nike cleats.

Last time I tried a pair of Vapors, I literally couldn't get my feet in them. Nike recommended some esoteric breaking in protocols, but they just didn't work for me. So I wasn't too confident that these would be any better. Boy was I wrong. When they first arrived, I thought there must be some sort of mistake. No box that light could actually contain a pair of shoes. The box was so light it felt as antigravity. They floated out of the box; I didn't have to lift them. The spell didn't fade as I slipped them onto my feet - I felt as if I could run 1000 miles at light speed; I felt like I hovered. When vapors first came out, they were known for their lightness. I knew that would remain the case. But now they're just light, they're comfortable. I haven't had a single blister, which amazes me. They are also quite cool on the foot, which may help fight off the moisture and blisters. I love wearing them. Now, soccer boots are not just for the foot feel; they have a job to do. Nike has found a way to make this a functional pair of boots with the bit of texture they've added to the synthetic upper. I was able to get as much bend and whip on my shots and passes as I can with...ummm...my other non-Nike boots. The fit was true to size and not at all uncomfortable. I'd wear them to the office if I could get away with it. Buy and have no regrets.
