Great shirt, shrinks a lot afterwashing/drying

Really like the shirt - ordered both a medium & large because I was not sure of the fit and it does run slightly large at first (I typically wear a size L) . The shirt was soft and comfortable and fit well when it arrived. After washing it once, it shrunk significantly, especially in the length. The medium shirt fit perfectly the first time I wore it, now it is too short and measures 26" in length from the shoulder/neckline to bottom hem, so I was glad I kept the large. The large I measured before I washed it and it shrunk from 30" to 27" in length after washing and drying on low. Love the shirt, but probably because of the softness of the fabric, it shrunk more than other cotton shirts, and to the point where I can not wear the medium anymore.
