12 Week 42K Plan

All roads lead to 42K. It’s time to give it everything, and leave nothing in the tank. Over twelve weeks we will train, educate, and motivate you to take on a Marathon. Set the bar higher every day on your training journey as you take strides closer to your next big milestone. This Marathon plan works best for runners who can run with relative ease for 45 minutes to 1 hour as a baseline. If this doesn’t sound like you, check out the 10K or 5K training plans.

Take the 21K training journey over twelve weeks. Run alongside coaches Lydia O’Donnell and Dave Ridley across a series of Guided Runs powered by the Nike Run Club App. Build week on week to take it to the next level. If it’s your first Half Marathon or you’re chasing the next PB — run with us. This training plan works best for runners who can run with relative ease for 45 minutes to 1 hour as a baseline. Dave Ridley

Dave empowers runners of all levels with the ability to see and realise their potential. With a view that every runner is unique, Dave aligns the principles of running with each person to make their training journey feel approachable yet rewarding. “Running doesn't discriminate, it's something we can all work towards being better at,” Dave says. Having run world class times in Marathons and Half Marathons, Dave actively works with the community to share his invaluable expertise. Of the 2022 NMMF, Dave says: “I'm most excited to share our training plans, experience and help guide our great community of runners to get to the start line fit, fast and confident in what will be a thrilling day.”

Lydia O’Donnell

Lydia views running from a different angle where growth, development, and mindfulness are at centre stage. “Running inspires me to be better”, Lydia says. More than just going fast, Lydia believes in showing up through thick and thin to be present during every stage of the running journey. Alongside Nike, she is a member of a number of community based initiatives and programs that help runners of all abilities achieve their personal goals. “I’m excited to have our Nike Members join us on the 2022 NMMF journey as this is going to be the best year yet”, says Lydia. Going on to say, “The journey ahead is all about you. I’m grateful to be your coach and to be on this journey with you.” Holding national titles in the 5K, 10K, and the Half Marathon, Lydia has represented New Zealand in Cross Country, Half Marathon, and Marathon.
