As a child, Laurea played all different sports. During volleyball games, she bounced on her toes, always ready for the next spike. As a basketball player, she leapt into the air and sent the ball swooshing into the net. And when she skated, Laurea glided gracefully across the ice.

But her favourite sport of all was football.

On the pitch, Laurea was a natural. She kicked the ball swiftly from one side of the field to the other. She sprinted across the grass, racing as fastas she could toward the goal. Laurea’s grandfather was her biggest cheerleader. He celebrated every win with Laurea and helped her through the losses.

As a teenager, she got the opportunity to play for a prominent club in Barcelona. But when Laurea’s grandpa fell sick, football became less and less important to her. When he passed away, she stopped playing all together.

‘I am a girl who lives, enjoys, and fights for equality and visibility.’

But even though Laurea gave up football, football hadn’t given up on her.

When she was 27, she learned about the street football community in Barcelona. Laurea began to play again. It felt so good to be kicking and running and scoring again. Laurea saw an opportunity to share her passion with other girls. She got more and more girls involved in street football.

Laurea makes football fun and inclusive for girls and women. She knows that when given the opportunity, girls have the power to change the game.
