SFB Origins

  • Mid-tier SFB

I've been buying Nike SFBs since the OG release back around 2012. I've worn different variants of these boots through multiple training exercises, deployments, Ranger School, and in garrison - love them all. Some are better than others, and these boots are mid-tier compared to other releases. I haven't been a fan of the style of the newer boots and think the older versions are much better. Overall, these boots have proven to be as durable as other Nikes I've purchased with high comfort levels. However, the soles are harder than older versions, so I'll be hesitant to do the new CFT in these boots. But, in wet environments, these boots are great. They drain fast and dry fast. Regarding fit, Nike's Jungle-variant boots have always run a half size large for me. I wear a 11.5 in every boot and shoe I've purchased. For these and other Jungle boots, however, I always have to buy a size 11. Nike really needs to make lace-lock standard (like the SFB Gen 2s) across their SFB lineup. Tying laces tight around the lower calf is not good for long rucks. Nike, re-release the OG SFBs!!!!

  • Good Field shoe

I originally thought this was the next SFB B‑series boot, not realizing Nike currently makes three different military models. The uppers look similar at first glance, but the outsole and overall platform make it clear this is its own design. One drawback that carries over from the B2 is the rope‑style lacing, which tends to fray once the reinforcement wears down and affects long‑term durability. Outside of that, the Jungle Boot 2 shows real improvements: it’s lightweight, breathable, handles weather changes well, and provides strong traction. It also locks down my foot better than the B2, where I usually need an insole. Where the Jungle Boot 2 differs most is in responsiveness and impact absorption. It doesn’t have the same explosive, athletic feel as the B2, but it delivers a more grounded, stable ride that fits its intended purpose. After a break‑in period, it performs exactly how a field‑focused boot should. For rucks, patrols, and mission environments where stability, breathability, and weight matter, the SFB Jungle Boot 2 is the right tool for the job. It’s not my top choice for everyday comfort or high‑mobility/impact tasks but it is a solid choice for the field or tactical environments.

  • Don’t Last

    JustCallMeMyke

Within a month of purchasing them the laces were frayed and tore. Reached out to customer service not to ask for anything free, but where I could buy replacement laces and was told they don’t sell just the laces. That ridiculous. While the boots are comfortable they don’t last. Less than 5 months of owning them they started cracking. I didn’t even use them for the field. All garrison use. Wouldn’t purchase another pair of them.
