Astro Turf Football Boots

Our Astro Turf football boots are specially engineered to provide the grip, control and confidence you need on artificial surfaces. From after-work training sessions and kickabouts to must-win league matches, you want to perform at your best. Our football boots for 4G pitches and 3G pitches help you put in your best-ever stint for your team. And with a full selection of junior sizes, we're helping the next generation get their football careers off to a flying start, too.

Performance from the ground up

When you play on Astro Turf, 3G and 4G pitches, you need shoes purpose-built for the surface. This is to reduce the risk of injuries while also protecting the playing field. That's why we make our Astro football boots with engineered outsoles that suit the unique demands of artificial grass (AG). Grippy textures give you the control you need to sprint, pivot, tackle and slide with confidence—without damaging the pitch. Meanwhile, durable rubber materials ensure your boots can go the distance with you and last longer. Keep an eye out for specially designed tread patterns, inspired by our learnings from wear tests on hundreds of athletes.

Play in comfort

At Nike, we know the beautiful game can be tough on your muscles and joints. That's why high-performance shoes are a must to protect yourself from injury. We make our football boots for Astro Turf with shock-absorbing inner soles that soak up the impact of each movement. This helps reduce fatigue, so you can push yourself harder. Look out for pairs with Air Zoom units built into the heel. These deliver a springy, propulsive feel that powers you across the pitch—without weighing you down.

Hone your skills

Fine margins make all the difference to a great sporting performance. Our football boots for 3G and 4G pitches come with engineered uppers to give you maximum precision. To bring you closer to the ball, check out pairs that feature our Flyleather material. This comfy fabric combines the look and durability of leather with a light, responsive feel. It moulds to your foot so you can sense the ball more accurately. You'll also find shoes with textured touch zones in strategically placed spots. These help enhance your control of the ball for clean passes and deadly strikes.

Find your fit with 3G and 4G football boots

Our Astro Turf football boots come in a choice of fits to suit your preferences and playing style. Lace-up designs give you ultimate flexibility to adjust your footwear. Look out for off-centre lacing placement that creates a clean strike zone. If you prefer a tighter, compressive fit, pick options that feature sockboots with stretchy inner weaves that hug your feet tightly. When it comes to profile, low-cut pairs provide maximum freedom of movement. Need a little more support? Opt for a shape that sits higher on your ankle.

What football boots are best for grass pitches?

The best football boots for grass pitches all depend on the playing surface and its condition. For dry or slightly damp natural grass, go for FG (Firm Ground) boots. If you're looking for boots for wet or muddy pitches, pick SG (Soft Ground) boots.

What football boots should I wear on wet grass?

SG football boots are usually the best choice for soft, muddy and rain-soaked pitches. Their longer stud configuration provides additional grip and stability on slippery surfaces, so you'll stay secure even in tough conditions.

What football boots are best for dry grass?

FG football boots are the top choice for dry natural grass pitches. Their moulded stud design delivers reliable traction, along with balance and acceleration on firm playing surfaces. It means you'll always feel in control of your game.

Can you wear AG boots on grass?

We don't recommend wearing AG football boots on natural grass. Because AG studs are shorter and rounded, they won't penetrate natural turf properly, which can cause you to slip and lose traction. If you regularly switch between natural grass and artificial pitches, you're much better off choosing Multi-Ground (MG) football boots, which are specifically designed to handle both.

Can you wear FG boots on grass?

FG football boots are designed specifically for natural grass pitches. That's why they are the most common choice for players competing on firm grass surfaces.

What’s the best football boot soleplate for natural grass?

For most natural grass pitches, an FG soleplate is the first choice. When it's extra rainy and muddy, an SG soleplate can provide better traction and stability, so you can focus on your performance.

What football boots do professionals wear on grass?

Most professional footballers wear FG football boots when playing on well-maintained natural grass pitches. If the weather gets wet or they're playing on softer surfaces, some players switch to SG football boots for extra grip.

How do I choose the right football boots for my pitch?

Start by thinking about the surface you play on. FG boots are ideal for firm natural grass, while AG boots are designed specifically for modern artificial grass. If you play in wet, muddy winter conditions, you'll want specialised SG boots for extra grip. Looking for a true all-rounder? Go for MG boots for maximum versatility on both grass and synthetic surfaces.
