It's not too loose, not too restrictive, and it gives plenty of room to move freely in any direction. And despite how sturdy they feel, they’re incredibly lightweight, which my son loves. No complaints about wanting to take them off mid-activity! What’s also impressed us is the durability. After repeated washes and heavy use, they still look and perform like new. Nike clearly built these to last, which makes them great value for the price. My niece loves these shorts!! The material is buttery soft, light weight and very breathable!! The shorts are flowy which allows comfortable movement! These shorts also have a bikini style lining to ensure maximum coverage! She was unsure of these shorts at first because they are not form fitted and she has aversions to textures and styles but the bikini lining and the soft nature of the material do not bother her! She is so happy with these! We will be buying more for summer!
