My toddler boy has thoroughly enjoyed wearing these shoes. Not only did they come in blue (his favorite color), they are aesthetically pleasing and give the impression of "big kid shoes." He has been enjoying wearing them to school, at the playground, during soccer, and while riding his bike. The sleek design and athletic style give him the confidence to play and perform while providing comfort and support. While the fit on the Nike Air Max Fire seems appropriate for my 4 ½-year-old toddler (there is enough space in the toe box), getting the shoes on was a bit of a struggle in the beginning. It took quite a bit of effort from myself and my toddler to get each foot inside the shoe. Because there are elastic stretch laces in lieu of shoelaces, it was necessary to stretch these out at first in order to get the shoes to go on. I appreciate the pull tabs on the heel as these helped us slide his feet in a little easier. These shoes seem to provide excellent impact support and comfort throughout the day. I also appreciate the traction these shoes provide on versatile surfaces; I don't have to worry about him slipping or skidding as with other pairs of shoes he has.
Overall, these shoes are sturdy enough to get through a full day's worth of school, outdoor playground time, bike riding, soccer, and outdoor excursions. While durable, they are also flexible and breathable. My toddler has yet to complain about his feet getting too hot or sweaty, even during high-intensity activity. I was concerned the shoes would look dirty or beat up after a week or two, but the material cleans up remarkably well, adding value and emphasizing the appealing aesthetic look.
The sleek "big kid" aesthetic, breathable comfort, and standout traction are major wins. The heel pull tabs are also a total necessity for helping guide his feet into the shoe during morning routines.
Making the elastic stretch laces slightly more forgiving or flexible right out of the box would make the initial break-in period much easier for parents and toddlers when putting them on for the first few times.
