In celebration of the 15-year anniversary of the Doernbecher Freestyle collection, Nike reintroduces Mackenzie Short’s Free Run 2.
In 2011, Mackenzie modified the shoe’s overlays so that the medial and lateral sides came together in the heel and formed a heart, making her shoe unlike any other version of the style on the market. She provides bright words of encouragement with words including believe, hope and laugh on a turquoise blue midsole.
Mackenzie is now a healthy 20-year-old and is completing her prerequisites at Umpqua Community College for dental hygiene school. When not going to school or doing homework, Mackenzie can be found working at her local coffee shop or snowboarding during the winter. Her words of wisdom for future designers: "Don’t be afraid to ask for exactly what you want."
All proceeds benefit children’s health and well-being at Doernbecher Children’s Hospital.
