Air Jordan 17 x Doernbecher Freestyle

As part of the Doernbecher Freestyle program, which gives young patients at OHSU Doernbecher Children’s Hospital the opportunity to work with Nike and Jordan design teammates, Zach created his very own Air Jordan 17, dedicated to his love for all things mechanical. Zach's design features hex-shaped eyelets and chrome elements inspired by his passion for bikes. The collar features soft leather, like on a luxury steering wheel. And if you pop open the lace cover, you’ll find interchangeable silver charms linked to the laces. Significant to Zach is the number 38, noted on the hangtag, and a reference to how many days he spent at the hospital recovering from sudden cardiac arrest. Doernbecher Freestyle is a more than 20-year partnership between OHSU Doernbecher Children’s Hospital and Nike, where young patients design sneakers that represent their individual passions, life experiences, medical journeys and relationships—with 100% of the profits benefiting the hospital. Since 2004, Nike’s Doernbecher Freestyle Program has raised more than $44 million for OHSU Doernbecher Children's Hospital so kids can receive the care they need to reach their greatest potential.
