A csapat néhány tagja egész életében úszott a szegregált medencék ellenére is; mások csak a 60-as éveikben néztek szembe a víz iránti félelmükkel. Együtt nyertek díjakat, legyőztek krónikus betegségeket, barátságokat kötöttek, és ami talán a legfontosabb: megosztották szenvedélyüket és készségeiket az egész közösséggel egy ifjúsági úszóprogramon keresztül. „Edzőként az a jutalmad, hogy látod, ahogy ezek a fiatal férfiak és nők erőfeszítés nélkül siklanak a vízben” – mondja Luther Gales, a csapat elnöke. És mióta a tanulmányok kimutatták, hogy a fekete fiatalok statisztikailag nagyobb eséllyel esnek áldozatává a fulladás okozta baleseteknek, a Harlem Honeys & Bears többet tesz, minthogy megossza a sport ajándékát – életeket ment. 1/4 2/4 3/4 4/4 1/6  2/6  3/6  4/6  5/6  6/6  ## Ismerd meg a Honeys & Bears csapatot  Rasheedah Ali 1935-ben Cincinnatiban született Rasheedah már egészen fiatal korától kezdve szerette a vizet, és gyermekkori vízi akrobatikus képességei miatt „Fekete Esther Williams” néven ismerték. Végül északra költözött New Yorkba, és azóta is ott lakik: „Szeretem Harlemet – nem akarok máshol élni. A következő állomásom a paradicsom lesz” – mondja. Monica Hale „Ha tudsz úszni, akkor szinkronúszni is tudsz” – mondja Monica, a csapatkapitány, aki élete megpróbáltatásai során a vízben talált menedéket.
