Below are some helpful tips for how to pick the right boot and size for you, but for more information on all our boots, visit our football boot buying guide

Find the right boot for you

FIT PREFERENCE: how the boot feels around your whole foot, not just the width and length.

Nike football boots

Natural: our natural-fit boots are best for players who want a more democratic fit and/or have wider feet. Both Tiempo and Phantom boots are considered a natural-fit preference.

Nike football boots

Contoured: our contoured boots are best for players who want a snug, secure fit that minimises the space between your foot and the ball. If this is your preferred fit type, we recommend ordering your usual size. If you typically prefer a more comfortable fit, we recommend sizing up half a size. Mercurial boots are considered a contoured-fit preference

LOW vs HIGH: where the boot meets your ankle.

Nike football boots

Low: our low boots meet your ankle just below your ankle bone. We offer boots without a cuff in a variety of closure types, including standard lacing and ghost lacing. Tiempo, Phantom and Mercurial boots all offer no-cuff options.

Nike football boots

High: our high boots feature a cuff and are intended to meet your ankle just above your ankle bone. The Dynamic Fit collar wraps your ankle in soft, stretchy fabric for a secure feel. Because our high boots have a sock-like entry system, they can feel snug initially. With time, they should be easier to pull on. Phantom and Mercurial boots both offer high-cuffed options.

How to measure foot length

  1. Tape a piece of paper to a hard, flat surface, ensuring the paper doesn't slip.
  2. Stand on the paper, feet shoulder width apart and weight evenly balanced (only one foot will be on the paper).
  3. With a pen or pencil pointed straight down, ask a friend or partner to assist you by marking the tip of the big toe and the outermost part of the heel.
  4. Once the marks are recorded, step off the paper and use a ruler or tape measure to measure the distance between the two points. This measurement represents the length of the foot.
  5. Repeat the process with the other foot. Please note that it is common for one foot to be a slightly different length to the other.
  6. Apply the longer of the two measurements to our size chart to find the right correlating size for the recorded foot length. If the measurement is between sizes, we recommend sizing up.
