The older versions were much better and offered nicer colors. The new ones feel like a downgrade — they wear out faster, tear more easily, and have a smaller fit. Please bring back the old 7” (18 cm) shorts!

Factory store had the zipper-pocket version

Due to the previous reviews over the importance of zipper pocket features, I found last year’s version of second sunrise 5” liner short at the local Nike Factory store and purchased a size M. I am 5’8” tall and weigh 148 pounds and the M size is perfect. I am a father whose two daughters and wife are starting to get into hiking and trail running. In such situations, the father usually ends up carrying myriad items and foods for the others (and the car keys etc) so, yes, last year’s version at the Factory store was a GREAT find! Personally, I prefer compression inner shorts and a 6” or 7” drop even for running shorts! Still, last year’s version fit great, are phenomenally adaptive, secure and practical. They are sturdy and well built and I don’t have to worry about the valuables flying out of my pockets! And, so, I can focus on my family, the trail, the fresh air and the natural beauty ! Nike engineers always get it right, so let’s see what next year brings!
