Nike Pegasus Plus 2

Ich war/bin ein großer Fan des ersten Pegasus Plus aka Pegasus Turbo 4. Das Gewicht von 250g war beim Release angenehm gering und ich hab sie vor meinen ersten Carbon-Trainern gerne für Tempo-Einheiten benutzt. Für Intervalle fehlte aber noch etwas und bei Einheiten über 20km war die Dämpfung für meinen Geschmack deutlich zu gering. Der Plus 2 stellt ihn aber (und da muss ich der Kritik widersprechen) deutlich in den Schatten und das obwohl ich auch lieber beim Flyknit als Upper-Material geblieben wäre. Zwar ging das Gewicht nach oben, aber ich spüre es nicht! Ich hab sowohl zwei eher gemütliche Laufrunden als auch eine 5km+ Intervall-Einheit mit dem Plus 2 abgeschlossen und ich bin überrascht und begeistert. Ja man spürt die Zoom-Pods im Gegensatz zu den Alphaflys hier nicht, aber ich kann besser als im Vorgänger das Tempo erhöhen und dann auf der gewünschten Geschwindigkeit bleiben und das liegt sowohl am ZoomX-Schaum (sowohl mehr davon als auch die bessere Mischung) als auch dem Air Zoom-Pod. Ich würde sogar soweit gehen und behaupten, dass man hier durchaus schnellere Einheiten über der Halbmarathon-Distanz meistern kann. Gibt es schnellere Daily-Trainer? Ja. Gibt es leichtere Daily-Trainer? Ja Aktuell greife ich trotzdem lieber zum Pegasus Plus, als zu seinem 40g leichteren Konkurrenten, vor allem weil sich der Übergang bzw. das Abrollen hier wirklich sehr viel konstanter und leichter anfühlt. Also wer einen Daily mit mehr Tempo sucht und KEIN Fersenläufer ist, sollte dem Schuh definitiv eine Chance geben. Ich hab es gemacht, trotz der harten Kritik die man liest und hört und es nicht bereut.

If you started wearing Nike as a kid in the 80’s because you had skinny/narrow feet, this may finally be where you have to jump ship. In their efforts to make the forefoot fit a wider range of feet to gain new customers, they’ve pretty much ruined it for their long-time devotees. Went with the same size I wear for literally hundreds of my other Nikes, and these things are sloppy. They can’t be cranked tight enough. I was so excited for these, and now I’m not only disappointed, I have to assume that none of their running shoes are going to fit well anymore.

The Nike Pegasus Plus 2 delivers what I hoped for and expected: a comfortable daily trainer with a bit more propulsion. It feels like a hybrid of the traditional Pegasus and the Tempo Next%, keeping the familiar Pegasus ride while adding extra energy return from the forefoot Zoom Air. That air pod makes the shoe stiffer than a standard Pegasus but does not have the feel of a plated midsole. The substantial upper and robust cushioning also make it quite different from earlier Pegasus Plus/Turbo models which mated minimal uppers to a lower stack heights: 27mm heel, 17mm forefoot in Turbo, 35mm heel, 25mm forefoot in Plus 1, versus the 39mm heel and 29mm forefoot in the Pegasus Plus 2. I will use it for basic distance miles and some tempo efforts but will definitely reach for something else for interval work. My only complaint is the noticeable squeak from the forefoot air pods, even if it is quieter than the Alphafly or Tempo Next%, which use similar pods.
