The future of basketball has arrived. The highly anticipated G.T. Cut 4 is an ultra-modern low-top basketball shoe designed to give players an intimate court experience through enhanced cushioning, traction, stability and a snug fit.

Officially unveiled during the China International Import Expo in Shanghai in November 2025, the G.T. Cut 4 first received notable buzz for its futuristic look when Nike athlete Paige Bueckers sported a pair during the WNBA All-Star Weekend in July.

"The G.T. Cut 4 pushes the game forward and is built to match the feel, speed and creativity of today's athletes with Nike Basketball's most advanced innovation yet", says Ross Klein, VP and creative director at Nike Basketball.

This latest iteration of the popular shoe—built to offer the utmost in comfort, performance and responsiveness—was designed with the future of the game in mind. The G.T. Cut 4 builds upon the innovations seen in the G.T. Cut 3, the first shoe in the series to feature a ZoomX foam midsole.

The new model incorporates several enhancements in cushioning, stability and overall feel. The ZoomX foam midsole is even softer and more responsive for playing on hardwood courts. A new traction pattern on the sole offers a firmer grip on the floor, further supporting players when changing direction or moving quickly toward the ball.

Also distinguishing this model from its predecessor is the low-profile and snug fit of the G.T. Cut 4, which feels like a hug to your foot with the right amount of support. Additional technological enhancements enable a smooth and seamless feel when navigating the court.

Aesthetically, the latest G.T. Cut silhouette features a futuristic look with smooth, sleek finishes and eye-catching vented grooves above the midsole. The shoe launches in the Preheat colourway, a futuristic blue with black laces, black Swoosh and a pale-grey sole that provides a pop of contrast from the side.

In creating the G.T. Cut 4, a team of Nike Basketball product experts and designers studied the mentality and movements of a select group of the world's top basketball players and used these findings to enhance the G.T. Cut, "creating a shoe made for the future of basketball and the hoopers shaping the game", says Klein.

The G.T. Cut 4 is the latest example of how the Nike Greater Than Series emphasises forward-thinking, performance-enhancing design. Each shoe in the series highlights a specific aspect of the game to give players a performance boost where they need it most.

For instance, the G.T. Future features a bold futuristic design similar to the G.T. Cut 4. However, the G.T. Future—consisting of a forefoot Air Zoom unit with a parabolic Zoom Strobel and Cushlon 3.0 midsole—is designed for players whose bounce is their competitive edge. Together, the G.T. Future, expected to launch during the 2025 festive season, and the G.T. Cut 4 represent the future of the Nike Greater Than Series for the next generation of players.

"Today's players are defining their own path on and off the court", says Klein. "The G.T. Series is Nike Basketball's commitment to their future—built to elevate their game and style with bold design and breakthrough innovation".

The Nike G.T. Cut 4 is slated for a January 2026 release on Nike.com and select retailers.
