ACG Misery Ridge

This jacket is sturdy, comfortable and includes several fine details you want in a high-end rain jacket and shell. I'm 5'11" 165 lbs and the medium fits really well. It has enough room to wear a warm layer or even thin puffer jacket underneath. It is also not too loose to where I feel the need to only wear it with layers. The quality of material is top notch for wicking water - this will be my go-to jacket for summer camping trips in the mountains and outer shell for snowboard trips. The air vent zipper under the armpit is nice and big - goes from the armpit down to the middle of the side pocket and helps cool me down when needed. It has velcro straps at the end of the sleeve to tighten around winter gloves and the sturdy but pliable vizer is nice during a rain storm and to keep the sun out of my face on sunny snow rides. The hood has three different tightening loops, the bottom of the jacket can be tightened and the release valves are all built internal to the jack with push buttons that can be pressed even when wearing winter gloves. There is one zipper pocket on the right side and a mesh pocket on the left that is perfect size for a phone. Even the string to hang the jacket near the tag is high end.

This jacket felt amazing the moment I put it on. The structure of the jacket is nice because it is meant to be worn over layers so there’s room underneath. The design blew my mind. The zippers underneath the underarm are fantastic and threw me for a loop as I’ve never seen something like that before. The bungees throughout the jacket are great to help keep the weather elements out while you’re out and about. I received this item during a particularly odd heat wave in San Diego, Ca, so I was not able to use this item for it purpose, but with the fall and winter months coming, I’m excited to put this bad boy to use on some hikes and weather the storm with it. The only thing I’d change, is the hood and length. Not sure if maybe the hood is supposed to be big to allow for hats/beanies underneath. The length could be a little shorter but otherwise great.

The appearance and design of this jacket is top tier. It is loose and a relaxed fit, I appreciated the space so you can layer when hiking on cold days. Also nice to not layer under the jacket if it’s just rainy out. I love that if you are using the jacket when warm out, you can unzip the many zipper around the jacket (under the arm pits, etc.). As someone who is 5’8, i probably would size down. I usually wear a size L jacket. With all things being considered, this jacket is is flawless for the different outside elements. You can layer up and stay warm and dry, making this jacket the ideal choice against the different weather conditions you may face.
