Running Shorts

Designed to move with your run

Running shorts should feel light, secure and flexible from the first stride. That's why you'll find pairs made for track sessions, treadmill training and everyday jogs. Think streamlined fits that let you move freely without distraction. Choose brief-lined styles for built-in support, 2-in-1 running shorts with smooth constructions, or versatile hybrid silhouettes. Shorter lengths help you open up your stride, while longer cuts offer extra coverage when you want it.

Stay dry, stay focused

When the pace lifts, comfort matters. Go for Nike running shorts with Dri-FIT technology that moves sweat away from your skin so it can evaporate faster, helping you stay dry and focused. Plus, discover Nike Dri-FIT ADV in selected styles. This clever technology combines sweat-wicking performance with advanced engineering and fabric mapping for targeted breathability. Mesh panels boost airflow in high-heat zones and lightweight woven fabrics create a flexible, barely-there feel. Whether it's a race day or a speed session, Nike AeroSwift designs are shaped for minimal distraction and efficient movement.

Find the fit that works for you

The best running shorts are the ones that match how you like to train. Loose silhouettes create an airy feel for easy miles and recovery runs. Half-length tights and biker shorts offer a locked-in fit that supports steady movement and reduces shifting. We've also got high-waisted options that give a streamlined shape, while mid-rise designs are ideal for daily wear. Meanwhile, look out for adjustable drawcords that let you fine-tune the fit. Some styles are made with InfinaLock fabric for a smooth, compressive finish that stays close without holding you back.

Details that go the distance

Small details can make a big difference as you're clocking up the miles. Running shorts with practical pockets keep essentials close, so you can head out hands-free. Some also have zips for added security. Inner linings add coverage and support, while flat seams reduce rubbing over longer distances. You'll even find pairs that are seamless on the inner thighs, so you stay comfortable at full speed. Plus, look out for options with leak protection for added confidence during training.

Ready beyond the finish

Nike running shorts aren't just built for running—they fit into the rest of your day too. Discover pairs that are perfect for warm-weather walks, stretching, gym work or relaxed weekends when comfort takes top priority. Breathable fabrics help manage heat, while easy-moving cuts keep you comfortable between workouts. Wear your shorts with a performance top for training or an easy layer on a rest day. Want to stand out? Go for a bold colour that makes sure you're noticed. You'll also find classic neutrals and subtle shades that are simple to mix and match.

Frequently Asked Questions about running shorts

What type of shorts are best for running?

The best running shorts depend on your distance, pace and chosen fit. Brief-lined shorts have built-in support, while 2-in-1 styles offer smooth coverage and reduced shifting. Compressive biker shorts or half tights give a close, secure fit to support steady movement. Look for sweat-wicking fabric, breathable panels and pockets for holding your essentials.

Do you wear underwear with running shorts?

Running shorts with a built-in brief or liner can often be worn without underwear to limit rubbing and create a streamlined fit. If you pick an unlined pair, wear them with lightweight, sweat-wicking underwear that sits smoothly under the waistband.
