Utolsó frissítés: 2021. április 30. A „Pillanatképek” nevű sorozatunk bepillantást enged a helyi sportolók életébe világszerte. „Pillanatképek” nevű sorozatunk bepillantást enged a helyi sportolók életébe világszerte. Derick Narine azonnal beleszeretett a krikettbe, amint először ütőt ragadott. Tinédzserkorára már hazáját, Guyanát képviselhette a nemzeti csapatban. Aztán amikor középiskolás évei kezdetén New Yorkba költözött, eljuttatta csapatát első bajnoki címéig. Derick kapcsolata a krikettel azonban túlmutat a győzelmeken. A sportág szeretete generációról generációra öröklődik a családjában, és valahányszor ütésre készül, érzi a kapcsolatot felmenői hosszú sorával, akik nemzedékről nemzedékre ugyanezt tették. Queens Jamaica nevű városnegyedének Baisley Pond Park krikettpályáján beszélgettünk Derickkel, aki arról mesélt, milyen kulturális különbségek vannak a New York-i és a guyanai krikett között, és hogy mindennek ellenére ez a sport valahogy mindig összehozza az embereket. ## Hogyan találkoztál először a krikettel? Először a falusi csapatokban játszunk, aztán beválasztanak a körzeti ligába. Onnan egyszer csak beválogattak a nemzeti csapatba. 16 éves koromban képviseltem először Guyanát. ## A középiskola miatt költöztél New Yorkba. Milyen élmény volt? Izgatott voltam. ## Gondoltad volna, hogy lehetőséged lesz krikettezni New Yorkban? ## Milyen a hangulat itt Queensben? Megy a beszólogatás meccs közben? ## Milyenek a New York-i pályák? Mindenfelé játszunk. A kissenai \[Flushing, Queens] pályák a legrosszabbak. ## Milyen a krikettközösség? A krikett sokakat összehoz. Mindannak ellenére, ami a világban történik, az emberek továbbra is kriketteznek.
