Nike Maxfly 2

30% off

Fit for the world's fastest, the Maxfly 2 is back in the starting blocks. Designed for the 100 metres to 400 metres (hurdle events too), it combines an ultra-aggressive feel with the responsiveness of an Air Zoom unit to propel the speediest sprinters on the planet.

Flyweave construction

Nike Flyweave construction on the upper provides a secure and contouring fit for various foot shapes.

Carbon-fibre Flyplate

The carbon-fibre Flyplate's shape and stiffness help keep you on your toes and minimise deceleration.

Zoom, zoom

The forefoot Air Zoom unit has two chambers to give you a propulsive feel and stability from take-off to the tape.

What's new about the Maxfly 2?

Lighter, more responsive than the Maxfly, the Flyplate's shape and stiffness give you a propulsive feel. The middle spike removed from the Maxfly and the elevated platform on the big-toe side help the spikes feel more stable.

  • Short summary of the Nike Maxfly 2

    ryder58a62ba88fc44dbb878231cd5f7f1d05 - 25 Dec 2025

I wanted to take the time to share my full experience with the Maxfly, because this shoe has genuinely made a huge impact on my performance and my confidence as an athlete. From the moment I first put it on, I could tell that this wasn’t just another sprint spike it felt like a piece of engineering that had been carefully crafted by people who truly understand what sprinters need. The bounciness, the responsiveness, and the incredibly lightweight feel all come together to create something that feels almost futuristic. It’s clear that the engineers, designers, and everyone involved put real passion into this product, and I want to acknowledge that upfront. One of the things I appreciate most about the Maxfly is the snappiness. Every step feels like it gives something back, almost like the shoe is helping propel me forward. That sensation alone makes the shoe feel special. The lightweight construction also makes a huge difference it feels like there’s barely anything on my foot, which is exactly what sprinters want when they’re trying to squeeze out every fraction of a second. It’s rare to find a shoe that feels both powerful and minimal at the same time, but the Maxfly manages to strike that balance. That said, I also want to offer some feedback that I hope can help with the development of the Maxfly 3. One area that could be improved is the insole. While the shoe overall feels light, the insole caused some blisters for me, which took away from the “running with nothing on” feeling that I think this shoe is aiming for. If the insole could be made smoother, softer, or more adaptable to different foot shapes, it would make a huge difference in comfort, especially during longer training sessions or repeated sprint work. Another thing I’d love to see is an expansion of the colorways. The current colors are strong, but I think the Maxfly deserves an even wider range of options — similar to what you did with the Maxfly 1. Athletes love expressing themselves through their gear, and having more color choices makes the shoe feel even more personal. One idea I had was a full dark, nightfall‑black version with grey highlights on the bubble and laces. Adding a dark‑purple accent to the laces could create a really striking contrast that still feels sleek and professional. I think a lot of athletes would gravitate toward a colorway like that. I also want to mention the heel area. For me, the heel felt a bit tight — almost like my heel didn’t have enough room to sit comfortably. A slightly wider heel design or more flexible heel support could help prevent that “suffocating” feeling and make the shoe more comfortable for athletes with different foot shapes. Comfort is a huge part of performance, and even small adjustments in this area could make a noticeable difference. One minor thing I noticed was the smell when I first opened the box. It had a slightly unpleasant scent that took a bit of time to fade. It’s not a major issue, but improving the materials or packaging to reduce that smell would make the unboxing experience even better. Now, onto performance — because this is where the Maxfly truly shines. Before switching to the Maxfly, I was running 12.95 in my ASICS Hyper Sprint 8. After switching, I dropped to 12.2. That’s a massive improvement, and it wasn’t because of injury recovery or anything like that — I was healthy during both periods. The difference was the shoe. The Maxfly helped me feel more explosive, more efficient, and more confident in my stride. My friend had a similar experience: he went from 13.44 in the ASICS Hyper MD to 12.43 in the Maxflys. These aren’t small improvements — they’re huge jumps that show just how much this shoe can elevate an athlete’s performance. That’s why I believe the Maxfly is truly revolutionary. It’s not just a shoe — it’s a tool that helps athletes unlock more of their potential. It helps us feel faster, stronger, and more capable. It gives us the sense that we can push beyond what we thought our limits were. For athletes in this generation, having access to technology like this is a game‑changer. It’s helping shape the future of sprinting, and I think that’s something really special. With a few refinements — like improving the insole, expanding the colorways, adjusting the heel fit, and enhancing the initial unboxing experience — the Maxfly 3 could become an even more iconic product. I genuinely believe that Nike is on the right track, and I hope my feedback can contribute in some small way to the continued evolution of this incredible shoe. Thank you for taking the time to read this and for putting so much care into the products you create. I, along with many other athletes, truly appreciate the work you do. The Maxfly has already made a huge difference in my performance, and I’m excited to see how the next version pushes things even further.

This is one of the best spikes ever. I went from a 12.94, the year before, to a 12.26. You can feel the speed difference when putting the spikes on for the first time because of the addition energy return.

  • Great track shoes.
