Excellent Summer Shorts, But the Fit Won't Be for Everyone
Greg
The Nike Tech Helios Shorts get a lot right, especially if you're looking for a lightweight pair of shorts for hot weather. The fabric is noticeably breathable, and Nike's Dri-FIT technology does a great job of keeping you comfortable on warm days. Living in Arizona, I can appreciate the added UV protection, and these feel like the kind of shorts you can wear all day without feeling weighed down. I also like the understated design—the all-black colorway paired with the tonal embroidered logo gives them a clean, versatile look that works with just about anything. The waistband is comfortable as well; I wear a size Medium with a 32-inch waist, and the fit around the waist was spot on and can be easily customized with the drawstring cord. Where these shorts lost a few points for me was the overall silhouette. At 6 feet tall, I'm someone who actually prefers longer shorts, so I was excited by the knee-length design. However, these ended up being longer and baggier than I expected, so the fit wasn't quite my style. If you're after a relaxed, oversized look, that's probably a positive, but I tend to prefer a slightly more tailored fit. Overall, I think these are solid warm-weather shorts here with excellent materials, functional zippered pockets, and a clean aesthetic. The fit simply won't be for everyone, so I'd recommend them most to anyone who likes a roomier, longer-cut short.
