Review after 145 km

I am a long-time Nike Pegasus fan and have been running in various Pegasus models for years, currently I run on the Street, Shield, and Trail version. I bought this Pegasus Trail Gore-Tex for wet and winter conditions. It performs very well in forests, dunes, and on the beach. A big plus is that it keeps fine sand out and prevents it from collecting between layers—something the other trail versions struggle with. The Gore-Tex upper also keeps my feet warmer and drier than the ventilated trail version. After 145 km, the shoes still look great and the outsole performs well. However, for my foot shape the shoe is very tight across the instep, even after trying different lacing techniques, which causes discomfort on longer runs. I hoped it would stretch over time. In addition, on uneven terrain the overall foot lockdown feels limited. My foot tends to move inside the shoe, and at times it feels like running in sandals than in a supportive trail shoe. I really like the concept of this shoe and would love to continue running in the Pegasus line. I’d be interested to hear whether Nike recommends a different Pegasus or trail model that offers more instep room and better midfoot support for similar season conditions.
