ACG Misery Ridge

This jacket is a truly top-tier choice for rainy hikes and trail runs. It’s packed with pockets with firm zippers that have enough space for most items you’ll be carrying, along with a small clip on the right side for holding things like umbrellas and small bags. The material is thin enough to avoid bulk but is insulating enough for cold mornings and evenings, and the gore-tex is extremely effective— rain beads on the surface and shakes right off. When I took this on a hike in Vermont it held up to the branches sticking out into the trail and I used all the pockets, inside and out, to carry all the things I needed. While the price tag is high, the quality and features this jacket provides meets that level, as long as you take full advantage of them.

This is the best looking and most functional rain jacket I’ve ever worn. I’ve been using a Patagonia gore tex for the past three years and it’s been great, but this ACG blows it out of the water. The construction is top-notch, and I love that the ventilation zippers go both ways, as well as the front zipper. Two interior pockets, and external carabiner, and it’s a little thicker but still lightweight. It fits perfectly over a sweatshirt or puffer, and looks incredibly cool. I haven’t had a chance to wear it in the rain yet, but I have no doubt that it’ll perform. I love this jacket.
