Nike Field General

Immediately out of the box I couldn’t believe how sharp these look… ordered the Black/White combo and man do they pop! Classic retro Nike look and they are not lacking on comfort. Love how versatile these are too, I've worn them with Jeans, shorts, sweats, and received many compliments. Fit is true to size and really happy with the toe box… I’m a bigger guy and always like some extra space. Do yourself a favor and give these a run!

I have never worn the field general shoes before and I was pleasantly surprised. When seeing photos of what they looked like I didn’t think I would like the model but I love them! The shoes are super stylish especially the color way I received (all black with white accents and white swoosh). I have been wearing these everyday when going to the gym, going to soccer and to the store and they are very comfortable and I have even gotten compliments on them as well. Just to be clear I have not ran in these, simply just wearing them casually to and from places. Fit was good, I thought the shoes were just slightly wide and tall in the forefoot/midfoot which I think leads to the creasing in the toe box. I did feel that shoe did fit big, it was slightly longer than the usual size 9 I wear. Feel was great too, didn’t know how the bottoms were going to feel with the rubber turf style grip on the bottom but they were great on all surfaces. I think the fabric on the toe box seemed a little cheaper than I expected. If these were created in all suede instead of the mesh type material, (on the toe box and the midfoot panels) I think they would do very well in the sneaker scene. I think the change from suede, to mesh, to suede to mesh looks okay in all black, but I think in any other color way it could look tacky. Plus the different materials would show wear/dirt different and could make the differences in color even more drastic. What I liked most was the overall shape of the shoe. I like more low profile type shoes to wear around and I am a soccer player and these almost look like an indoor/outdoor version of a soccer shoe but have the ability to wear on the street because of the design. They are nice and narrow and not bulky which looks very sharp with athletic gear on. And as a plus, if I needed to, I believe I could play an indoor soccer game with these on and feel they would perform well enough. So they are multi use which is a perk. If I could change one thing I think it would be the material on the tops of the toe box. Like I mentioned before it creased almost immediately after my first step. For functionality there’s no issue for me as they were comfy and looked sharp. But if these are starting to try to climb in the sneaker scene I think an all suede version would be much cleaner. However the other material may help with breathability when it’s hot and could help your feet avoid sweating. And finally stylistically if I could change something maybe put the Nike on the Heel in a different font, or even one heel say Nike and the other a swoosh just for some flair.

Fit/Feel: The length is great, but the width is too narrow for me. The materials on the upper are forgiving so it isn't a painful fit. It isn't the most comfortable for my wide feet. Undoing and loosening the laces helps with the fit. The outsole is firm and doesn't provide much cushion. Design: Clean, low-profile silhouette. Narrow and firm. Very reminiscent of newer Nike skate models. Materials: The upper has a combination of a nice black suede and a soft mesh. The best thing this shoe offers is the materials and the aesthetic. Personally I would change the fit and would go for a wide version if it was available.
