Behind the Design

A cor da superfície oval do The Armory é visível ao longo da parte superior. O verde remete para o campo interior do The Armory.

  • 100% worth it if you got the speed.

Before I go talking about the performance of the Nike Maxfly 2, I would like to draw attention to the overall epic look of the shoe. The construction isn’t just great looking but very quality-a great update from the version 1, which if I am correct was basically garbage that performs well for one meet. It’s very lightweight while maintaining a strong build. Unlike the Maxfly 1, the Maxfly 2 will last the season. Originally, I bought it worrying if it would last till the end of the track season but based on the way it’s holding up, I wouldn’t be surprised if I can use it next year. Now performance wise it’s actually insane, the carbon Flyplate gives great kick that you can feel in every stride, and it seems to be retaining its stiffness amazingly. It is noticeable in all sprinting events from the 100m to the 400m. Now to address those in the reviews who say that it isn’t stable in the corners-I think it’s likely that you either didn’t tie your shoe well enough (which I will address later) or you’re making an excuse for not winning the race as I felt no problem in the turns and in fact felt that they actually provided stability. To be fair I do outdoor track which could effect me different because indoor has more tight turns. Going back to the tying shoe part I will say that you need to make sure that you tie your shoe well as I will say it can become unstable if you don’t. I mean it’s powerful, it literally tries to rip itself off your foot if you don’t tie it right. Oh, and the “severely ruining block starts. . .” part is a joke. I felt no issue with getting out of the blocks and if anything, I think it helps me accelerate faster. I also feel like the air bubble being a problem was a little exaggerated. To be honest it isn't really that noticeable. The price is a little repelling, but I would say it’s worth it if you are fast enough. Which is to say that if you’re an average sprinter who just wants a pair of spikes the Rival Sprint should do you just fine if you want a Nike. But for those of you who are winning races and want the extra edge I would say that it is far worth the money. Of course, this is all one man’s opinion but I hope that this will be helpful in your decision on whether to buy the Nike Air Maxfly 2 or not.

If you’re debating between a cheaper shoe and a more expensive track shoe, definitely go more expensive. I’ve gone cheap with track shoes for a while (without carbon plate, under 70$) and upgrading to these shoes is like heaven. They are so light it feels they are not on your feet. One recommendation I would make is to order the size that can fit you closest, don’t try and grow into these. Overall good shoes.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought these for my 9th grade daughter and she loves them. We noticed an immediate improvement in her performance. Definitely worth the money!
