A kosárlabdában minden apró fejlődés számít, még akkor is, ha fokozatos. A Cosmic Unity a következő lépés a hulladékmentes jövő felé. Súlyát tekintve 25%-ban újrahasznosított anyagokból készült, ami nem tűnik soknak, de tervezőink elkötelezetten igyekeznek fenntartható termékeket tervezni, amelyek évről évre kicsit jobbá válnak. Ez az alacsony szárú sziluett volt a Nike első lépése afelé a lehetőség felé, hogy újrahasznosított anyagokból készítsünk cipőt a teljesítmény feláldozása nélkül. A Cosmic Unity ezt az elképzelést vakmerően továbbviszi. A csapat a folyamat minden lépése során tudatos döntéseket hozott a fenntarthatóságot szem előtt tartva, onnantól kezdve, hogy a tervezők a papírt feladva digitálisan vázoltak fel az ötleteiket, egészen odáig, hogy a termelői csapat hozzájárult, hogy csökkentsék a gyártól kért minták számát.   ## Figyeltünk a hulladékra Bennett Shaw, a Cosmic Unity termékvonal-menedzsere nagy kosárlabda-rajongó, de nem szakértője a Nike Move to Zero kezdeményezésének. A cipő kifejlesztése során azonban fokozatosan meglátta a párhuzamot imádott sportága és a Nike küldetése között, méghozzá abban az elgondolásban, hogy évről évre kissé jobbá válhatunk. „Idővel egyre jobbak szeretnénk lenni” – magyarázza Bennett. „Vállaltuk azt a kötelezettséget, hogy 5%-kal növeljük az újrahasznosított tartalom mennyiségét.” A 25%-os varázsszám elérése érdekében a tervezők egyedülálló kombinációt vetettek be: részben újrahasznosított összetevőket és hatékonyan gyártott új anyagokat alkalmaztak. A Crater Foam középtalphoz például körülbelül 10% Nike Grind gumit használtak fel, új anyagokkal kombinálva. A réteges kábelrendszer 99%-ban újrahasznosított anyagokból készült, a talpbetét újrahasznosított poliészterből áll, a talpszél pedig újrahasznosított poliuretán és poliészter keveréke. A csapat továbbá rendkívül komolyan vette a cipő esztétikáját is, ügyelve arra, hogy gyors, áramvonalas és futurisztikus megjelenést nyújtson. ## Kopásálló szemét A’ja Wilson, a WNBA MVP-je a profi játékosok közül elsőként próbálta ki a Cosmic Unity cipőt a pályán. A cipőt teljes hosszúságú Zoom Air Strobellel szereltük fel, amely részben újrahasznosított TPU-ból készült, és úgy lett kialakítva, hogy minden elképzelhető mozdulatod kövesse. A Zoom Air Strobel egy olyan összetevő, amelyet a remek lábmunkával rendelkező játékosok, mint A’ja, nagyra értékelnek, ugyanakkor minden játékosnak szól. „Nagyon meglepett, hogy milyen könnyű, és szerintem bármilyen játékosnak, bármilyen poszton jó választás” – mondja A’ja. „Rájöttem, hogy a Cosmic Unity képes alkalmazkodni az összes lépésemhez és mozdulatomhoz, és ez nagyon fontos.
