  • Pretty Good Runner

I have the all black colorway of the Nike Star Runner Utility. Out of the box, they felt quite tight and they took a bit of time to break in. Eventually they loosened up and conformed to my feet. Once broken in, they performed well and felt secure during my runs. Just be aware that they may take a couple of wears to break in and completely feel comfortable. The overall design is clean, sleek, and modern. The most noticeable design feature is the lack of shoelaces. I love that there are no shoestrings, which means you never have to worry about them coming untied in the middle of a run. While I appreciate the laceless design, the current fastener system doesn't have much give. It was a bit difficult to get the lock in place initially. The quality of the material is impressive and durable. Pulling them on forced a lot of bending in the back but luckily the material doesn't crease. Overall, I would recommend purchasing. My favorite feature is not having to worry about untied laces. If I could change one thing it would be to somehow make the lock easier to fasten.

Got these shoes for my 11yrd old nephew and all the summer trips the family has planned. He has been wearing them for a few days now and he says they are a good fit and comfortable!

I got my son a pair of the Star Runner’s last year and he loved them. The only problem was we got him the laced pair while teaching him how to tie his shoes. He wanted to wear them every day, while swearing that he could tie his shoes. Four pairs of laces later, he can tie his shoes - keeping them tied is another thing. The utility version of these are a godsend. I’ve had versions of the Pegasus utility in the past and really liked them for running. The weather resistant material and draw cord lacing system are perfect for playing outside. We don’t have to worry about his feet getting wet or the laces coming undone while running around. Plus the Star Runner was already a shoe my son likes, so i know we’ll get good use out of them. The only downside is making sure he still improves on tying his laces. This is a good compromise for now and we’ll be getting him another pair.
