The NBA has seen plenty of multi-generational families, but the idea of a father sharing the court with his son always appeared unlikely, if not impossible. But with LeBron, improbable is light work. In the 2024 NBA Draft, LeBron James Jr.—better known as Bronny—was selected 55th overall by the Los Angeles Lakers. In the season opener on 22 October 2024, the Jameses checked in during the second quarter, becoming the first father and son duo to play together in an NBA game. While we all witnessed history occurring in real time, LeBron experienced the moment on a deeply personal level. "For a father, it means everything".

Honouring the duo's historical moment, the LeBron XXIII 'The Chosen One and The One Who Chose' utilises large and small crowns on
the upper to represent father and son. Asymmetrical colourways dial up the theme as well, with a black and gold shoe with a heel icon
that reads "Chosen 1" representing LeBron. On the flip side, a black and purple shoe places an emphasis on Bronny, with a heel icon
punctuating being the "1 Who Chose".
