Nike Air Max Dn Roam

This was a different type of style for me to try out than normal. The no laces was a new thing. I feel like this shoe has a very futuristic look since you zip up the shoe over the fastener. Comfort: 10/10! I was a little worried because I have had an Air Max like this before that wasn’t very comfortable but these were great from the moment I put them on! Very stable and very comfortable! I wore them all day!

The tread on these shoes is no joke. It makes me excited for the winter months and uncertain terrain because I feel like anything is conquerable with these shoes. The weather tech material in the past has always been spot on, so I imagine it still holds true with this new version. When the rain starts coming down, these will absolutely be in my rotation. The first thing I noticed out of the box was the weight. As I mentioned before, there is some substantial tread on these and that adds weight of course. Don’t be alarmed, these are just heavy athletic shoes, nowhere near the weight of boots. I guess I’m just used to other air max’s, like the 1’s or the 270’s. Completely different kind of shoe, but that’s the weight that I’m accustomed to so it was definitely noticeable. Second thing I noticed was how tight the shoe was when I was putting it on. These shoes have a bungee type tightening system underneath the zipper, and even when it was as loose as can be, it was still a tight fit to get my foot in. Once it was in, it felt like a regular shoe. There were no hot spots anywhere and the shoe fit true to size. I anticipate them loosening up a bit like most other shoes as time goes on. There was no squeaking and there was decent arch support. The tightening system seemed secure and I don’t anticipate having to stop to retighten my shoes once I put them on. The air bubbles are a nice touch aesthetically, but I don’t know about functionality of them. I’m sure it lightens the shoe because if it was a solid sole, these would be way too heavy. Overall these seem like a solid shoe. I haven’t worn them a ton, because I have a very specific season in mind and it’s a few months away.

I was pleasantly surprised by these shoes right out of the box. At first glance, I expected them to feel stiff and uncomfortable, but instead, they fit almost perfectly and were much more comfortable than I anticipated. With my high arches, I did have to stretch them a bit to zip fully, but once zipped, the closure felt secure and did not cause any discomfort. The design immediately reminded me of shoes I used to wear for long work shifts on my feet, which gave them a sense of familiarity. That said, I think the lace enclosure being the same color as the shoe made the overall look a bit flat. Some contrast or detailing would have elevated the style. I also found that these shoes leaned heavily into the sporty side, which limited how versatile they were with outfits. They worked well with gym or athletic wear, but did not easily blend into more casual or lifestyle looks. The fabric was a highlight. It is soft, flexible, and broke in quickly after just one wear, which made the shoes feel supportive yet easy to move in. They were also surprisingly warm, which could be a plus in cooler weather but might feel heavy in hotter climates. For reference, I wore them with padded athletic socks, which added to the comfort but may have also contributed to the warmth. What I liked most was the balance between comfort and performance. The springy feel underfoot made walking light and effortless, while the grippy sole kept me feeling stable. If I could make one change, it would be to add a pop of color or variation in the laces, stitching, or another subtle detail to give the design more personality. Overall, this is a very comfortable and functional shoe that surprised me in all the right ways, although it is more suited to athletic wear than an all-day lifestyle option.
