Shades
I wanted to give this shoe 5 stars but a couple of things left me wanting more. Please allow me to explain. Usually, Air Force 1’s have a solid fit and feel. True to size. This pair is no different and in fact, the mesh tongue as opposed to a leather one, gave my feet a little bit more breathability and flexibility without the tongue pressing up against the front of my ankle. The grip is firm not just on the floor but also around my feet. As usual, this classic silhouette is not too narrow or wide for my flat feet. So as far as performance goes, it certainly gets my approval. The design is classic. Who doesn’t love a classic Air Force one? Well, I like these but I don’t love them. Not the model itself but the colorway. Black and grey is easy to match with my outfits but unfortunately lacks creativity and for that, I’d wear these as a “daily errands pair” instead of a “going out pair.” Regardless, keeping the design as it is gives it a very familiar feel and I wouldn’t change the support for anything. Now on to the materials. Of course, I already mentioned the black mesh tongue. Love that btw. But for some reason, I don’t like the suede tox box and sides. I feel these can stain easily. Yes, it helps creases so that’s a plus but ultimately, you’re trading creases or possible stains and fading. The rest of the shoe is made out of black soft leather WHICH I LOVE. Just wish the whole shoe was made out of it. Ultimately, this shoe didn’t know what it wanted to be. Does it want to be sporty? The suede stops it from that. Did it want to be more presentable or formal? The colorway prevents that. I can certainly make it work but it will take a little bit more effort in order to do so. My rating remains at 4 stars because I love Air Force Ones but this particular pair had a couple of drawbacks. I wouldn’t call them negatives but it’s more about my personal preferences.
