  • Great shoe for stability on trail runs

    Ty - 06 May 2024

Immediately from putting these shoes on, they made a good impression. They aren’t as soft as my vomero 17 running shoes which are what I’ve used the last few months, and the lack of the plastic lace guard on the top of my foot worried me (I love that innovation for a running shoe), but those were total non-issues. They served extremely well on long runs. My feet stayed comfortable in the plush padding of these shoes and the harder pieces in the sole guided my feet to be on track each step. There is a little bit of extra room in these, which was not ideal once I got past about three miles. My feet would come in a little bit towards each other as they naturally do, which is something some shoes can prevent. They would loosen up slightly as I went longer too, which is typical of running shoes, but the width at the top of the tongue meant that little pebbles had the slightest bit of space to come in. Other than these two things though (pronation and pebbles), I have zero complaints. The locks that keep the laces in place are excellent for dispersing the pressure of the laces and keeping them in place. The reinforced mesh at the top of the tongue was really great at keeping the top bone of my foot comfortable. I was easily hitting each stride and rocking forward with my usual motion, even gaining a little bouncy boost with the brand new shoes. The heel was slightly gummy, so for heel-first runners these might not be ideal if you want complete control over your heel strike. They were truly outstanding on terrain. Gravel and twigs faded out of my mind completely as the cushion transferred none of this pressure to the bottom of my foot. I typically have traction issues on the steep gravel inclines on my local trail, and these are the only shoes I’ve used that got me downhill on loose rocks with ease. They were even great uphill on wet, new asphalt. They worked well for daily walking as well. I love the way the insoles feel, especially after I’m used to some SB Nikes that have horrible insoles that rub against my socks. These had no issues with any kinds of socks, even drier, stiffer ones. The only issue with these for daily use is you can still feel the encouraged “rocking motion” of a runners stride in daily use. Again, not nearly as bad as that feeling is on my vomero 17s though.

  • Solid Road to Trail

    KY Runner - 06 May 2024

The new Pegasus 5 is a really solid choice for road to trail runs. The fit was true to size with plenty of room in the toe box, while the high but soft tongue made for a secure ride. I was especially surprised by how light the shoes are. Maybe it’s been too long since I bought trail runners, but these felt extremely lightweight and equally breathable when I was expecting something much clunkier. Did well for me on a slick trail after some light rain, although relatively flat. Also comfortable on a road run without too much distance. I don’t know that these would hold up for really uneven trails and tough conditions. But for me these were a really nice surprise and fit the bill perfectly for casual road to trail runs.

  • Like walking on clouds

    TJ - 06 May 2024

These shoes are so extremely comfortable. When I first put them on I was shocked at how soft they felt when walking around. It feels like you are walking in clouds, as cliche as that sounds. The shoe itself is structured to handle all of your trail runs but soft enough to not fatigue your feet while running. It felt like as if I was running without shoes on. The shoe is very lightweight and the foam they have at the bottom of the shoe is firm but very responsive when you are running. You can definitely add some miles to these shoes. If your run hits trail and street it’s versatile enough to do both, but definitely have the majority of your runs on the trail to not mess up the integrity of the bottom that is needed for trail runs. I didn’t feel like I was going to slip or anything while running around in these shoes so the grip needed for outdoor trails is perfection. This is a nice upgrade from previous trail shoes and is perfect for long trail runs.
