Design Trip: ACG Dolomiti Collection
The Dolomites of Italy summoned the ACG design team in summer 2024 with a gnarled finger; more hypnosis than invitation. We strapped into gear and followed the call. There were 26 of us. Mad designers on a mission for new textures, materials, patterns in the rock. We tested bit after bit 'til our brains were numb and our hearts full. We knew the task and it was clear: create an arsenal for thriving in the wild.
We found Cortina and from there, game on. Destination unknown but somewhere beyond the sadistic verticals we'd scale to get there. The mountain faces scowled down at us, we lost ourselves in forgotten caverns. Emerged dumbstruck, less water in our flasks.
We clung to rope and each other on a shoulder of ice, saying "DON'T LOOK DOWN", and we didn't, and so we lived. At night we followed bats to a cave, most of us in shoes but one in spa slippers, it felt that urgent. Psychedelic shapes overhead gave us stupid grins. Never mind the bat poop.
We made it out, but the Dolomites followed us home. Wet memories inspired gear born from and for the mountains: lighter, drier, stronger, quicker. Cave ceilings became prints; limestone coloured our neutrals. Orange and purple flowers turned to jackets and shoes.
And all of it is a collection born from our subtle truth: all conditions means all conditions.
