Kobe X

Kobe Bryant and Nike unveiled the Kobe X in January of 2015. The design for the tenth signature installment fused three advanced footwear innovations crafted into a minimalist form. The Kobe X originally released as a low-cut sneaker in an open-weave sharkskin-inspired textile upper, which provided lightweight durability. The hybrid cushioning system combined Lunarlon, Nike Free-inspired siping grooves and a Zoom Air unit. The outsole took insights from intricate treads on performance racecar tires and featured hundreds of tiny “nodules” that grip the court. Delivering maximum grip, natural movement, and firm yet soft responsiveness, the traction and cushioning elements were paired together in a translucent rubber casing. As part of the Nike Basketball Elite series, the Kobe X Elite later featured a high-cut Flyknit construction and Flywire technology in the upper. Over the course of the year, other colorway narratives introduced a low-cut Flyknit version. Check back as more Kobe X colorways and stories will be added to the Vault.
